At the end of a riveting 25 minute man-on-man duel in pounding 6 foot (2 meter) waves at the Quiksilver King of the Groms South East Asian Final at Kuta Beach today, it was 13 year old Andre Julian from West Java who had found the best waves and posted the highest scores to claim victory over fellow finalist 14 year old Kiko Mitsua from Bali.

Denpasar, June 21, 2010 by June Arya – Michelle Ann Gailey of Australia and Jens Wilken of Germany cloked 02:29:45 and 02:27:22 respectively,  in the fourth MRA Bali International Triathlon held Sunday morning of June 20, 2010, in Jimbaran Bay and the southernmost peninsula of Bali. Beating her own record from last year, Gailey returned to claim her first honor position as the overall winner in the Olympic Distance Female Category.

Bali athletes get bonuses

DENPASAR: Six athletes from Bali each received Rp 35 million (US$3,850) cash bonuses for their achievements in the South East Asian Games XXV in Laos in 2009.
The athletes are volleyball player Rudy Tirtana, weightlifter Sinta Damariani, boxer Yulio Bria, martial artists Nyoman Suparnity and Ni Putu Spyanawati and track and field competitor Maria Natalia Londa.
Deputy Governor Anak Agung Ngurah Puspayogo said that the government was committed to improving the lives of local athletes.
“We should appreciate their achievements in national and regional sports arenas,” Puspayoga said. – JP

The Tegallalang Tigers edged out the St. Joseph’s Corsairs in their first competitive rugby fixture this weekend in an absolute try fest of a game.

Both the Tigers and Corsairs have taken up rugby recently and thought it best to use the Bali Charity Beach Games to launch themselves into the sporting world with a beach rugby match on the soft sands of Kuta beach.

This weekend Sanur was again host of the successful HotAir kite surfing finals and 2010 sees the competition reach it’s milestone 5th year. A firm fixture in the calendars of kite surfers across Indonesia and beyond, this year saw 14 competitors from Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and Holland participate in three different events over a weekend that was stuffed to the gills with thrills, spills and plenty of mayhem.
