2011 BALI JUNIOR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP // Wed, 28 Sep 11
The PGI Bali Junior Golf Tournament Series Championship Cup came to an exciting finale on Sunday 25th September at New Kuta Golf. New Kuta Golf was where the Bali Junior Golf started with the Series 1 tournament so it was a fitting end to a wonderful series of golf for the juniors in Bali.

Before the Bali Junior Golf Community ( BJGC) was first founded in late 2010, I asked why are there so few children playing golf in Bali? Depending on who I spoke to I would receive a different range of answers: not many kids like to play, too expensive, too hot for the children ; so after loitering at the some of the courses here in Bali ( which I would most likely be arrested for doing this in a developed country) I began to approach some adult golfers whom I knew had children, the coaches, the kids themselves and found that there in fact there were some children who played.
I think I totaled about 12 names after the first week. Having two children myself I know what a great social network and grapevine they have so I asked my husband Agoes for his support and started to think if we could put some well run tournaments/programs together the kids would find us and the word would spread.

The Raffles Golf Club is a social golf group based at the New Kuta Golf Course (NKG) in Pecatu (next to Dreamland Beach), Bali. It is about a 45 minute drive from Kuta/Legian (at a taxi cost of about Rp 100,000) or about 30 minutes from the Airport.
Raffles also provides support to Junior Golfers & holds a weekly free Coaching Clinic for children (please contact us if you have a child who wishes to join).

This past weekend forty two junior golfers took their A game to Balibeach Golf Course to compete in the PGI Bali Junior Golf Tournament Series 2
Dark clouds awaited the Junior Players on Sunday morning as they arrived at 6am at Balibeach Golf Course Sanur. It looked like the rain may disappear by the time the juniors were ready to tee off at 7am, but not long after the shotgun start the heavens opened up and 42 junior players whose ages ranged from 17 – 8 years old took their umbrellas out and soldiered on under difficult conditions.

This past weekend over forty junior golfers took their talent to New Kuta Golf Course in Pecatu Bali to compete in the PGI Bali Junior Golf Tournament Series 1.
Light rain greeted the Junior Players on Sunday morning as they arrived at 6am at New Kuta Golf, by the time the juniors were ready to tee off at 7am, the sun was shining and a great day of golf was about to get underway. There were a few light showers during the day but that did not dampen the spirits of the 40 junior players whose ages ranged from 17 – 8 years old.

PGI Bali together with Bali Junior Golf Community, will be holding the first Bali Junior Golf Tournament Series in Bali with the support of all five golf courses in Bali. Over 30 junior boys and girls aged from 8 - 17 are registered with players from Bali, Jakarta, Sulawesi, Surabaya and Perth - Australia will tee off at New Kuta Golf on Sunday 30th January 2011.
