3rd BALI OCEAN SWIM 2012 // Wed, 23 Nov 11
The 2012 Bali Ocean Swim will be held on Sunday July 8,2012.Now in its 3rd edition,as usual it will start from the Bali Garden Beach Resort & Spa in Kuta and participants will swim across Kuta and back.There will a 10 km swim for the pros and a 1.2 km swim for those wanting a less daunting challenge.All proceeds go to Bali Sports Foundations disabled swimming programs.

Surfer Girl team rider Pua brought home the 1st place trophy in the Under 14 Girls Division and teammate Tiana finished in third place in the Under 12 Girls Division of the final Magic Wave MSC Surf Series event of the year at Kuta Beach last Sunday. It was a history-making day for the entire Surfer Girl team, and nobody was more proud than team manager Michaela.

At the luxurious rooftop SOS Supper Club of Seminyak’s Anantara resort, Surftime Magazine unrolled the Red Carpet to honor Indonesia’s finest surfers and the best of the best in the industry. It was a night of spectacular glamour, making clear that Indonesian surfing is growing up and her surfers with her and they are becoming key players on a global stage.
ROYAL BALI YACHT CLUB TURTLE ISLAND REGATTA 2011 – September 10 &11 // Thu, 29 Sep 11
The once sleepy little fishing village of Serangan is the home of the Royal Bali Yacht Club. The traditional bamboo outrigger fishing boats still line the beach but the harbor area is now full with tourist boats, and visiting yachts. The annual regatta is the main sailing and social event of the year. The winds, seasonally strongest in August when the shores of Sanur are aflutter with giant kites, some 50m long had continued into September. In fact the forecast was for winds in excess of 15kts for the weekend.

In an amazing display of strategic tube-riding prowess, Bali’s Lee Wilson used his years of local knowledge to barrel his way to victory in the Rip Curl Cup today at Bali’s Banzai Pipeline over a field of the world’s best tube riding specialists, including runner up and previous Rip Curl Cup winner Made “Bol” Adi Putra, Australia’s Anthony Walsh, and first time finalist Mustofa Jeksen in a gripping 45 minute final.
Balawista Nippers // Sat, 13 Aug 11
For the first time in a number of years,a nippers program is being held at Kuta Beach, Bali every Sunday morning from 8-10am. Since April 2011 ‘Toni’s Nippers in Bali’ has been training children in water safety and surf awareness in order to support drowning prevention and reduction in Bali. The program is provided free and is open to children of all ages, for locals, ex-pats and those stopping by on holidays. It is funded by 11-year-old Toni-Lee Bromley from Sorrento in Western Australia who has been fundraising for some time now and has also supplied Balawista (the local Lifeguards) with equipment such as boards, balls, hoops and a rescue tube in order to run the program successfully.Further funding comes from Bali Sports Foundation .

Current Asian kiteboard Champion Thailand’s Yo –Narapichit Pudla showed all the other 20 international kiteboarders at the 6th HOTAIR why he is the best in Asia this year.Clearly in a class of his own Yo won all the individual events,culminating in winning the overall champion.

In Bali, along the south coast between Seseh Beach and Nusa Dua almost 300 people are rescued by the Balawista Surf Lifesaving each year, with approximately 5% becoming a fatality statistic. Many of those rescued are Indonesians on holidays who have little or no understanding of the dangers and no experience with water awareness and/or survival techniques. Children are our most treasured asset and anything we can do to protect them or to make them safer is well worth the effort. Do you agree?
