2011 AFL BALI 9’s // Mon, 21 Nov 11
The 9th annual Bali Nine-A-Side Australian Rules Football tournament proudly sponsored by Coca Cola, Quiksilver and Canggu Club was held on Saturday at the Canggu Club under rain soaked skies, but the weather failed to dampen another successful tournament hosted by the Bali Geckos. The host team was looking to defend its title against two teams from Western Australia, one from Borneo, and an all Indonesian development squad from Jakarta, the Garudas.

Darwin Waratahs Retain Masters Title // Mon, 04 Jul 11
In a fitting final for one of the biggest Australian Rules events outside of Australia, the Darwin Waratahs kicked the final score of the day to defeat the Singapore Wombats, winning their third Powerade Bali Masters 9s title. Played at Bali’s premier sporting facility, the Canggu Club, the championships saw 18 teams compete in a uniquely modified format of Australian Rules football, one specially developed by hosts the Bali Geckos. The event attracted 11 Australian teams as well as those representing Jakarta, Singapore (three teams), Borneo, Dubai, and hosts and defending tournament champions the Bali Geckos.
Geckos Take Out ANZAC Cup // Fri, 06 May 11
The Bali Geckos Aussie Rules team returned triumphant from their tour to Balikpapan, winning the third annual ANZAC Cup. Hosted by the Borneo Bears, the event was a three-way round robin, also involving Indonesia’ oldest Aussie Rules teams the Jakarta Bintangs, and was played following the 9-a-side format.
Masters event expands // Wed, 28 Apr 10
The Bali Masters continues to increase in popularity with a record number of teams projected for this year. Held June 12 at the Canggu Club, many new teams have expressed interest in this year’s event, which will be the fifth edition of the unique competition. With a possible 16 teams participating, games will most likely be scheduled on Friday evening as well as all day on Saturday. It is planned that finals games this year will be played under lights. 16 teams will mean that the Bali Masters 9s will be the biggest Aussie rules event in Asia. Bali Geckos Vs Darwin Waratahs, March 20th 2010 // Thu, 01 Apr 10
On Saturday the Bali Geckos shook off the off-season cobwebs to take on NTFL heavyweights the Darwin Waratahs in front of a record home crowd. Exactly how many punters were on hand to watch the mighty blue and green? Well, picture the Great Southern Stand at the MCG. Now, imagine the bar area under Row 18, and the men’s toilet off to the side of that. About that many!

For second year running,the Bali Geckos AFL team finished equal 3rd at the Asian Club Championships held recently in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia.
Losing their Semi final to eventual winners Dubai,had a sense of déjà vu about as exactly the same happened last year.
Looking the fabled Bali Geckos Grand Final function will be held at Bali Rock in Kuta.

2009 AFL BALI MASTERS // Wed, 13 May 09
The 2009 Bali Masters 9s is looking set to be Asia’s biggest ever Aussie Rules event. With most teams who participated last year already confi rmed, as well as strong interest by a number of teams from both Asia and Australia, it is projected that at least 12 teams from six countries will play in this year’s tournament.

The Crikey Cup // Mon, 19 Jan 09
A fantastic display of initiative and negotiating by ex-Gecko and now Timor Leste Croc Luke Gosling has led to the creation of “The Crickey Cup”, an event to be played annually between the Bali Geckos and the Timor Leste Crocs. Following discussions with Australia Zoo, Luke has arranged the game as homage to Steve Irwin – a very fi tting event considering the emblems of the two teams and the fondness that Irwin had of Indonesia and Timor Leste and their fauna. The Geckos are now fi nalizing details of the event with the Crocs and although it is early days, it is hoped that the game will take place in Kupang, West Timor in the fi rst half of 2009. Both clubs are aiming to achieve major coverage of the event in Australian
