Highlights of the first round of the 2011 Bali Premier Rugby League between the Tegalalang Tigers and Canggu Chillies,other clubs participating are the East Coast Storm and the Kerobokan Roosters

In preparation for June’s International game,Bali hosted Tas Baitieri,General Manager of Rugby League International Federation ,here to inspect the facilities and amenities for the two teams.

Mr Baitieri also visited the various Rugby League Clubs around Bali during his stay.

Together with the Australian Rugby League,Indonesian Rugby League Federation announces that an international test between Great Britain vs Australia University teams will be held in Bali on the 28th June.

This Junior test will be the first international fixture of any football code here in Bali.

Indonesian Rugby League President,Rodney Holt “ this fixture a first for Bali, shows the commitment of the Australian Rugby League and Rugby League International Federation to the development of Rugby League in Indonesia and an ongoing confidence in Bali as a safe destination for sporting events”

Highlights of the first oversea tour of the Bali Rugby League,in fact for many of the Balinese first time on a plane and out of Bali.Players from 4 clubs composed the team.The Balinese players were able to participate with the kind support of The Bali Sports Foundation for passports,tickets & accommodation whereas the expat players were self funded.

Tigers Roar against crestfallen Corsairs // Fri, 16 Jul 10

The Tegallalang Tigers edged out the St. Joseph’s Corsairs in their first competitive rugby fixture this weekend in an absolute try fest of a game.

Both the Tigers and Corsairs have taken up rugby recently and thought it best to use the Bali Charity Beach Games to launch themselves into the sporting world with a beach rugby match on the soft sands of Kuta beach.

In Tegallalang, there is a sports field. This field is in a sorry state, yet it is used to host basketball, soccer and rugby. The grass on this field is long and unkempt; it is covered in rocks, potholes and rubbish. Yet this most unlikely of venues is home to one of Bali Sports Foundation first and finest teams. Kicking off the month of June, Bali Sports saw the introduction of Rugby League to Indonesia with a 4 day crash course that had representatives from the Australian Rugby League development office visit schools all over Bali.
