Denpasar hosted 7 days of traditional sports // Mon, 30 Nov 09
DENPASAR: The City administration organized a seven-day traditional sports competition at the Kompyang Sujana soccer field in West Denpasar, Bali.
The event was held Friday 13th until Nov. 20, 2009.
Seven different traditional sports were featured.
“The sports included tug of war, hadang, dagongan, metajok *stilt walking*, jalan terompah, senam gong and pencak silat martial arts,” said Erwin Suryadharma, Denpasar municipal administration’s spokesperson.
The competition pitted athletes from all the city’s villages.
“The main objective of the competition was to preserve various traditional games and sports,” Erwin said. - JP
