The Stiff Chilli Bali Flames are currently preparing for the inaugural Indonesian Mixed Netball Championship on Saturday, August 9.
This tournament, scheduled to start at 2pm, will include two teams from Jakarta who will take on teams from Bali on their home turf, at Bali International School in Sanur. Each team may include a maximum of three males.
This is the first time the Flames have put on a mixed tournament, as they continue to develop the club and raise their domestic and international profile. The inclusion of male players promises to quicken the pace and raise the stakes in what is Australia’s most popular female sport.
It will be great spectator action, so come along and cheer us on (and watch the guys struggle with their basic instinct to tackle whenever their opponent gets the ball!)
The tournament is being held as part of the Sanur Village Festival, which runs between August 6-10.
It also coincides with the recent extension of the Flames’ sponsorship deal with Stiff Chilli Restaurants, a keen supporter of all things sporting in Bali and beyond.
The Flames, Bali’s only netball team and the island’s only expatriate female sporting club, play social scratch matches every Thursday at BIS from 6pm, and new players are always welcome, even if they’ve never heard of netball!
