Surfing in Kuta has been a big part of tourism for international guest holidaying in Bali. Surf schools in Bali are popular beach activity for tourists having a go at surfing .Local Indonesian instructors work on beach demonstrating the skills as part of their work. In Padma beach the Soul Surfer School offers a relaxed atmosphere on the beach, where u can sit and learn the skills at your own pace.
Surf Instructor Balla , has worked there for last 4 years. Originally coming from Atam Bua, Timor 15 years ago he has seen the changes in Bali and now sees that children safety in the water is important for survival at the beach. Soul Surfer School has a sense of responsibility to look out for its own surf school students and also tourist who swim at the beach. Balla has a 10 year old son named Raju and he has taken up the sport surfing which’s has developed skills for the sport inless than 1 year. Last year Raju joined in the Magicwave surf groms series for the first time and over 5 series events he finally took first place. YCR Swim and Surf coach Glenn supported his surfing career so far and is pleased with his progress and this year Raju’s performance has improved another 50% ability to surf with other older local Padma surfers. Raju is lookng forward to the up and coming Magicwave surf series this year along Kuta beaches. Bali Sport Magzine wishes Raju the best and hopes he can get a major surf industry sponsorship in 2010.
