REEF Bali Pro Surf Contest 2010 // Fri, 16 Jul 10
Radityta Rondi clams his territory as he charges to victory in the Reef Bali Pro.
Tributes must go to Reef organisers as they produced a great event on Kuta beach and all week during the heats was plenty of strong surfing from all competitors. As surf contest follower, this event is another contest that sticks in your mind. Each day conditions were consistent and surfers Pepen,Wilson , Marlon and Putra Hemawan charging the pack.
In the Semi finals it was clear that Rondi (Bul) had came to show that he was focussed at the championship title and left Hemawan from Nusa Lembongan chasing the Bul,s tail. The other semi final was a show down of what could be the the title race. Pepen has been on fire this year and this event he was looming as champion all over again. Not until half way through the semi Lee Wilson picked up his performance and produced some lethal manovours to clinch a finals birth.
Down to the final and again it was Rondi’s cool ability of surfing the waves that came before him produce some high scores and found Champion Wilson on the backfoot. The Bul charged towards a strong victory and puts him in the hunt for the ISC champions trophy. If he continues good form in the next events this year, it will create a great championship race for the ISC.
The women’s final saw a young gun Febri jump into the spot light as she proved to have the better waves to defeat Yasnyiar (Bonne) Gea ISC Women’s champion , with Dyah 3rd and Jasmine finishing 4th place.
