Dear All,
Happy New Year Caka 1931 and welcome to another edition of Balisportsmag from the Island of the Gods.
In the week leading up to Easter, the big event is the Elections throughout Indonesia,
The world’s second largest elections ,second only to India, Indonesia proves that whilst not perfect and somewhat chaotic,it is South East
Asia’s most democratic country, with direct elections for every position from village head to President.
And this in 10 years since a military dictatorship, not bad when you compare this elsewhere in SE Asia, like Malaysia, which has a new head of state from last week and without any say from the electorate.
Back to sport, this weekend Bali hosts the Nusantara X Ultimate Frisbee Cup.
The Bali International Cricket Sixes are back, now in their 12th year.
Bali Rugby plays host to Sorowako from South Sulewesi. The curtainraiser will be the first game of schoolboy rugby between schools in Bali with BIS vs Gandhi.
After Easter the Annual BIWA Tennis tournament hits off.
Last week the AFL Bali Geckos recently returned from a successful tour in Vietnam, played the Darwin Waratahs .
More news the Bali Flames successful hosted the Bali Sevens Netball tournament with teams from Singapore,Surabaya,& Kuala Lumpur.
Following the 1st OmbakBali Surf Film Festival last year,it returns this year in August.
And keeping on the subject of surfing films, this weeks video is from this weekend’s Rusty Gromfest Final at Kuta
