AA GEDE Karang,one of the older sons of the Raja of Karangasem,shares his experiences in the Japanese Army during WWII
As part of the Puri Krangasem Historical Society’s archives.Recently uncovered photos from the Royal Cremation in 1967. AA Agnurah Ktut Karangasem was incoronated in 1909 and abdicated in 1950 when Karangasem was absorbed into the United States of Indonesia (later renamed in 1952 the Republic of Indonesia).
The Raja went from ruling under Dutch colonial direct rule,to indirect rule in 1938,then in 1942 he came under Japanese colonial rule,then back in 1945 to independence until 1950,when Karangasem came under rule from Jakarta.
In an exciting development - B &W stills of the cremation in 1967 of the last Raja ,Anak Agung Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem have come to light.Presented in 4 parts.AA Angurah Ktut Karangasem was born in 1889 and passed away in 1966.He was coronated in 1909 and abdicated in 1950 when when Karangasem became part of the United States of Indonesia .
